About Us

Hi! We’re Ali and Ryan Earl, and we are the founders of Starline Therapy. We have over 20 years combined experience conducting individual, relationship, and family therapy. We started our journey in Chicago, and moved to Las Vegas in 2020 to start a group practice that can serve people who are located in Illinois and Nevada.

Both of us have worked in a variety of contexts, which over the years showed us just how hard it can be to find a therapist and/or practice that is down to earth - where you feel like you’re talking to not just a therapist, but also a person. So, we decided we’d take matters into our own hands and create a practice dedicated to providing quality therapy in a way that is modern, approachable, and authentic.

We love people - their stories, their relationships, their values, and more. We also understand that navigating relationships and life isn’t always easy, and that sometimes having a therapist to connect with can make a huge difference. Whether you need somebody to vent to, assist with problem solving, directly intervene, (or even if you aren’t sure what you need yet), we are willing and qualified to help.

Finding the right therapist can be difficult. After all, it’s one of the more important and meaningful decisions a person can make. We strive to maintain an affirmative practice that values social justice and honors not only what connects people, but also what makes them different. All identities and relationship configurations are welcome.

We’d love to meet you!

Starline Therapy FAQs

Do you prescribe medication or offer medication management?

We do not have a psychiatrist on staff, so we are unable to prescribe medication or engage in medication management. If it is determined over the course of treatment that medication may be a possible option, we will assist you in finding a referral for a psychiatrist or general practitioner who can provide that service.

Do you diagnose or offer psychological assessments?

Yes, all of our therapists are able to assess and diagnose according to criteria provided in the DSM-V. If a treatment plan calls for an assessment that is beyond the scope of our practice, we will assist in making a referral to a professional who is qualified to do so.

Do we take insurance?

Yes! All of our clinicians are currently in-network with Aetna Healthcare for Illinois & Nevada clients, BlueCross BlueShield Illinois PPO for Illinois clients, and with Anthem BlueCross BlueShield for Nevada clients. We are waiting for other insurance companies to accept us through their relative onboarding processes, so check back here every so often for updates. (Updated 9/9/2022). Your co-pay/ coinsurance and deductible will vary based on your specific plan. Please call your insurance provider for more details.

How much does it cost if I pay out-of-pocket (no insurance)?

Our 50-minute rates range anywhere from $130 - $160 per-session depending on which therapist you see.

Do you offer reduced-rate (sliding scale) sessions?

Reduced rate offerings (rates relative to a client’s ability to pay) vary by therapist, and usually depend on availability. Generally each of us will keep at least one reduced rate and one pro-bono (free) case on our caseload at all times. If you’re interested in sliding scale services, feel free to contact us and ask. We cannot guarantee these services, but will always be respectful in our response if we are unable to offer it at the time of inquiry.

How do I pay for my sessions?

Due to our practice being online-only at this time, we can only accept major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express). Payment is due at the time of session, and we are able to keep a card on file in our encrypted database for your convenience.

How does online therapy work?

We use the HIPAA compliant version of Google Meet to conduct sessions, which ensures that the connection is encrypted and safe. Your therapist will send a secure link to the session a few minutes beforehand. Google Meet is free for clients to use, and can be accessed via your favorite browser on most computers. There is a free Google Meet app that can be downloaded on most tablets and phones as well. The therapist will always ensure that the area they are located in is soundproof. You, however, are welcome to be anywhere you’d like! Read more about how online therapy works here.

When will in-person sessions be available?

For the foreseeable future, Starline Therapy is a teletherapy-only practice. We do not currently plan to resume in-person sessions, though this could certainly change in the future.

How often will I meet with my therapist?

Most clients attend sessions on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. However, other configurations such as monthly or as-needed can be discussed with your therapist, and they can collaborate with you to find the frequency that is most likely to meet your needs.

I’m not physically located in Nevada or Illinois. Can I still work with one of your therapists?

Unfortunately, due to licensure restrictions, we are currently only able to work with clients that are physically located in either Nevada or Illinois. If you have a permanent residence in another state, but are currently located in Illinois or Nevada, we can work with you. The most common example of this are university students attending a school in either state.

What if I miss a session?

There is no charge for a cancellation with 24 hours notice or in the case of an emergency. If you do not show up for your scheduled session, however, there will generally be a charge, which your therapist will discuss with you at your first session.
