Hi! I’m Rachel (she/her) and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Northwestern University after earning my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Coe College. Throughout my academic experiences, I was fortunate enough to complete several internships in various treatment settings before landing in private practice, such as pediatric mental institutions, residential treatment centers, and community-based mental health organizations.

Throughout my time in the mental health field, I have learned that my passion resides in working with couples and individuals presenting with various needs, concerns, and presentations including depression/anxiety, trauma, complex PTSD, attachment issues, codependency, life transitions, and relational conflict. I take care to recognize how these different issues are impacted by expansive identities, family of origin, race, ethnicity, and other larger systems we belong to. As a queer therapist, I have discovered a special interest in working with the LGBTQ+ community.

I would describe my approach to therapy as warm and inviting. Kindness, empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard are four pillars I live by when cultivating a safe space and meaningful relationships with clients. Trained in Integrative Systemic Therapy, I am constantly combining different skills and theories to curate an approach that matches the uniqueness of each client and meets you exactly where you are at. I often pull from psychodynamic theory, narrative therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy.

I believe all individuals possess the strength, skills, and abilities to grow towards wellness and live fulfilling lives. I believe we grow through what we go through, and that there is strength and resilience to be found in any hardship. We all have a story to tell. Let’s work together to create a narrative that is empowering and true to your strengths, and focus on the characteristics that make you uniquely you!

When I’m not working, you can find me spending time with friends and family, listening to the latest true crime podcast, playing piano, visiting live music shows, or cuddling up with my two cats and a good book.

The decision to invest in therapy takes strength, courage, and a great ability to self-reflect. I know how scary this process can be, so I do everything I can to build a supportive, enriching, and collaborative relationship with each of my clients. At the end of every dark tunnel is a light -let me help you find it.
